Wangi Pods & Eucalyptus Blossom Vases

My Design Philosophy

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the bushland, landscapes and waterscapes inherent to Lake Macquarie I have been reflecting on how to use shapes, forms, patterns, textures, colours, objects and ambiance to inspire my new works in Ceramics after making the lake our home in recent years.

My Design Inspiration
Inspiration for Wangi Pods and Eucalyptus Blossom vases come from  the Eucalyptus trees that surround our home. The brown gum nuts after they have fallen, the beautiful soft green of the eucalyptus leaves, the pale bark of the tree trunks have combined to inspire these groups of vessels.

My Materials
My choice of materials to make the pods and vases varies with the image I'm aiming to achieve. The terracotta Wangi Pods with brown/blue glaze reflect the earthiness of the rocky landscape and fallen brown gum nuts where as the Eucalyptus Blossom Vases formed in porcelain and covered with a calm green glaze reflect the gentle colours of the eucalyptus leaves and trees, evoking a sense of peace and tranquility.
